Charles County Literacy Council

Description of Services:

The Charles County Literacy Council (CCLC) provides free one-on-one tutoring in reading, writing, spelling, and math. CCLC prepares adult learners to receive the General Education Diploma (GED), pass the U.S. Citizenship test, acquire increased English proficiency for individuals with English as a second language (ESL), pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, pass employment/apprenticeship tests and become computer literate. Tutoring is done in a public location (primarily the library) at a time and place chosen by both the tutor and student. Al materials are supplied for free. By doing so, CCLC helps adult learners realize success and their potential as individuals, parents, and contributing members of the community.
